I use adblock myself, so it's not like I don't get why ads are ridiculously annoying in some circumstances, but I certainly recognize why they're necessary and whitelist websites manually in many cases. ![]() The opt-out ad list in ABP might not be a perfect system (although I haven't heard of any serious issues with it yet) but it probably eliminates 99% of annoying ads anyway and lets content creators show ads as long as they confine to certain standards of non-annoyance, so what's so terribly wrong with it that makes it deserve such hate? Is seeing some ads in exchange for free content really that bad? Would more directly commercially sponsored content be more to your liking? Even for review websites? I'm genuinely curious. It the net was like reddit, i would uninstall ublock. and reddits losing this money due to douchey websites and their advertisers who dont give much of a shit. who have non intrusive ads to lose money from those who never bother to whitelist. yeah begging us to whitelist is all and good but still leaves the very reason that drives people to adblock in the first place, costing places like reddit.
